For the production of indoor mats, the following materials are used:

polyamide;
polypropylene;
real pile;
foamed substances.
Pile products are more suitable for decorative purposes of the hallway than for protecting the house from dirt. And the thing is that natural piles dry for a long time and are very hard to clean.
Another option is microfiber floor mats, which have long fibres. They are comfortable as they absorb moisture very quickly and pick up clogging from the sole. These products are often made on the basis of rubber, which increases their practicality and service life several times. In addition, microfiber floor mats are machine washable, so there won't be a problem keeping them clean.
Another great practical solution for a doormat is products made from coconut fibre. They are very easy to clean, and some of them are even moisture resistant. This can be a great bonus if you live in areas with a lot of rain.
Artificial products made of polyamide and polypropylene perfectly absorb moisture and preserve their own appearance for a long time. They do not lose colour and shape, and some of them have a coating that interferes with the growth of bacteria. The main disadvantage of doormats that are made from artificial materials is considered to be their uniform design, because of that you will not be able to choose unusual and cool entrance rugs.
So, If you want to show your individuality and impress your guests, this may not be the best solution for you.
You can also choose a rubber doormat for your home. Such a doormat is beautiful, and its rubber layer on the bottom protects the floor from dirt. Rubber is not picky to care for, you can wash it very easily or vacuum it when needed.

Before choosing a door mat, you need to pay attention to its colours. Products that are bright and dark in one tone will not hide dirt. Light-coloured floor mats with a fine pattern make the stains invisible.

The main disadvantage of pile rugs is that they need constant drying, especially in bad weather.
2. Rubber mat
Rubber is a reliable and wear-resistant material, thanks to this, products made from it are durable and do not lose their own working qualities for up to ten years.
Doormats made of this material have advantages that make them more functional than other types of rugs:
- they are not prone to destruction from the manifestation of moisture and perfectly retain it;
-easy to clean and wash;
-will not slide, even on tiles.
But all the advantages are crossed out by one significant drawback - the design. Products made of rubber material do not stand out in a variety of colours, thanks to this, everyone will need to make their choice in favour of productivity or attractiveness.
3. Foam PVC entrance floor mats
Simple design and practicality are what makes PVC products stand out. The service life of such a rug is at least 5 years, thanks to which the owners will not have to worry about replacing the product in front of the door for a long time.
The PVC door floor mat has the following advantages:
-reliability;
-resistance to decay;
-firm adhesion to the floor surface and non-slip properties.
Polyvinyl chloride rugs are afraid of low temperatures, so they are not recommended for outdoor use. If you decide to buy this type of mat, make sure that it is made from recycled materials.
4. Products with a rubber base
Floor mats with a rubber backing will help protect the floors near the entrance from dirt. This material is resistant and can withstand high-temperature extremes.
Pros:
-perfectly absorbs moisture, preventing it from falling on the floor;
-easy to clean: can be washed, vacuumed;
- very lasting.
The disadvantage of such a rug is the high price. In addition, the selection of doormat designs is significantly limited.
