Ecorate.com was created in 2009 by two social entrepreneurs (us) with a simple mission: to provide innovative, market-based solutions to meet the great challenges of a rapidly evolving global marketplace. Ecorate.com was launched in Spring of 2009 as the first on-line product and technology rating platform for consumer durable goods with an aim to better serve the environment through the conscientious consumer. Today, Ecorate.com helps consumers make informed decisions that are not only in their best economic interest, but also in the best interest of the environment in which they live and the global community of which they are an equal part. Brycelaine Self is Co-founder of Ecorate.com and brings to the group expertise in sustainable product innovation and life-cycle costing. As a U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional (AP) and U.S. Department of Energy ENERGY STAR home verifier, Brycelaine has assisted architects and engineers in developing and implementing advanced energy systems in green building design. She has also worked with major manufacturers and processors along the materials loop to better understand design choices and material compositions in an effort to develop products that are environmentally, socially and economically preferable. Brycelaine is a social entrepreneur, working to establish innovative market-based solutions that internalize costs of production and disposal to disincentivize the externalization of costs to emerging economies downstream.
