Island Express

Service Provider in Brooklyn, New York

Island Express was inspired in 1976 by Sybil Bernard (1934-2000) – A Guyanese native, and mother of nine, who struggled and fought her way to America in search of a better way of life.

In America, she worked multiple jobs and saved enough money to bring all of her children over from Guyana to New York City.

With the help of all her children, Sybil started a bakery out of her home where she sold bread and pastries throughout the five boroughs.

From this, she obtained her first store in Queens, New York. She has since then left behind multiple stores and a brand that won’t be forgotten.
