Sierra Club

Service Provider in San Francisco, California

Since 1892, the Sierra Club has been working to protect communities, wild places, and the planet itself. We are the oldest, largest, and most influential grassroots environmental organization in the United States. And our founder, John Muir, appears on the back of the California quarter.

Our Mission Statement:

- To explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the earth;

- To practice and promote the responsible use of the earth's ecosystems and resources;

- To educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment; and to use all lawful means to carry out these objectives.

The Sierra Club is working to achieve the following:

- Curb Carbon: To avoid climate catastrophe, greenhouse gas emissions must peak and then decline steadily to a level close to zero by mid-century. In addition, the U.S. should help developing countries cut carbon and cope with the effects of global warming.
