Abbotsford Community Services Recycling Program

The Abbotsford Community Services Recycling Program provides recycling services for the City of Abbotsford and the District of Mission. They measured their baseline inventory using the calendar year of 2009. They are working to reduce these emissions by re-educating sanitation drivers about current recycling commodities to reduce waste, installing springs on doors to keep heat in, installing motion sensors in washrooms and the lunchroom, installing timers on radiant heaters, turning down the temperature on hot water tanks, maintaining machinery more frequently, mapping out more efficient trucking routes, purchasing more post consumer office supplies, purchasing fuel in bulk to reduce deliveries and cost, promoting litter-less lunches and encouraging the use of the onsite composting facility.
