MISO is an essential link in the safe, cost-effective delivery of electric power across all or parts of 15 U.S. states and the Canadian province of Manitoba. As a Regional Transmission Organization, MISO assures consumers of unbiased regional grid management and open access to the transmission facilities under MISOÕs functional supervision. As a user of Smart Grid technology, MISO furthers the U.S. Department of EnergyÕs goal of revitalizing the nationÕs electric grid. Information gathered from our synchrophasors allows us to detect conditions of the electric grid 30 times every second. Synchrophasors provide immediate value - enhancing MISOÕs ability to simulate and troubleshoot the bulk power system to bring a new level of situational awareness for grid operators. Our services help ensure reliable, least-cost delivered energy for all electricity consumers.
