Bronte Outer Harbour Marina

Service Provider in Oakville, Ontario

Find Christiansen had a vision to combine his life long passion for boating and design, to build a marina where he could enjoy all the beautiful boats any time he wanted. Along with his wife Arlene, Find set out to create the kind of marina they would both be proud of and make this their legacy to the Region of Halton. FindÕs innate architectural design skills and conceptual planning was instrumental in making what you see today. Beginning in 1996 the couple transformed a big empty park on the shores of Lake Ontario, at the mouth of the Bronte Harbour into the first class Bronte Outer Harbour Marina. It took several years to complete the 425 slip marina using only the best quality, wide, stable docks and all the amenities for boaters to enjoy. The couple insisted that the marina staff would be friendly, helpful, and treat customers the way they themselves would like to be treated. All of their family have been involved in seeing this project to fruition. Anna, their daughter worked at the marina when it first opened, moved to the Harbour Banquet Centre at Banquet Sales Manager and has now returned to the office at the marina. Unfortunately Find passed away of a sudden heart attack in April 2009 and is very deeply missed by all who knew him. Arlene continues to operate the marina but not without the help of her very competent staff members. Bronte Outer Harbour is proud to be a member of the Ontario Marine Operators Association, particularly the Clean Marine Program which is a voluntary program of ÒEnvironmental Best PractisesÓ for the marine industry that is recognized as the leader in North America. Each of the Clean Marine Program marinas must pass a comprehensive environmental audit to ensure compliance with the program standards set out in the Clean Marine manual. This manual, developed through the cooperation of the OMOA, Environment Canada and the Ontario Ministry of the Environment sets out more than 200 environmental practices that cover all aspects of marine operations from fuelling to waste oil and paper recycling. We are also very proud of our certificate of appreciation from the Ontario Field Ornithologists for helping the endangered Red-Necked Grebes to successfully nest at our marina.
