Our organisation manages one of the worlds largest sources of private capital for microfinance. The financial resources come from investments by individuals, organizations and churches. We pay our shareholders a modest annual dividend. Oikocredit finances and invests in microfinance institutions, co-operatives and small and medium enterprises in developing countries, aimed at positive social impact. All over the world we provide micro-entrepreneurs, small businesses, agricultural co-operatives and other productive enterprises with the capital they need to expand their businesses and improve their livelihoods.Oikocredit is a cooperative society with outstanding capital in excess of EU600,000 from over 52,000 investors. Its primary purpose is to reduce systemic poverty in the developing world through loans to over 800 micro finance partners, financing renewable energy initiatives and most recently financing agricultural projects including farmers and other supply chain participants. Oikocredit Canada-Central is one of three support associations in Canada promoting the work of Oikocredit.
