What Does a Gastroscopy Entail?

A gastroscopy is a treatment that enables your doctor to look into your stomach and intestines using an endoscope, which is a small, flexible tube. A tiny camera at the end of this tube takes photographs that are sent to your doctor.

Who Should Have a Gastroscopy?

The most frequent indications for gastroscopy operations are persistent indigestion, abdominal pain, bloating, a change in bowel habits, unexplained weight loss, and nausea.

What Takes Place During A Gastroscopy?

During gastroscopy surgery, general anesthesia is used. The endoscope will then be put into your stomach through a small cut in your abdomen by your doctor, or if that is not possible, through your mouth (this is called an upper endoscopy). The endoscope's five distinct lens tips allow the doctor to view your stomach and intestines. Following a thorough examination of your stomach and intestines, the doctor will remove a tiny sample of tissue (often 3–7 millimeters) to determine whether the diagnosis is accurate.

Doctors frequently employ gastroscopy as a diagnostic and therapeutic technique. It doesn't require any significant incisions and is also minimally invasive. We would be happy to support you and walk you through the procedure if you ever need it. We are more than pleased to address any questions you may have. Simply phone or contact us, and we'll be pleased to assist you! You are invited to schedule an in-person consultation at our gastroscopy center as well.
