Philly Fair Trade Roasters
Manufacturer/Supplier in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Philly Fair Trade Roasters specializes in small-batch organic 100% Arabica coffee, hand-roasted on a daily basis for maximum freshness. Our artisanal coffee can be found at select Philadelphia area cafes, premier restaurants, and farmers markets. Our roastmaster, Joe Cesa, has been micro-roasting coffee in Philadelphia since 2002, previously as the proprietor of the first fair trade caf in the city, Joe Coffee, at 11th and Walnut streets. We're now roasting in the Feltonville section of North Philly, original home of Philly's Goldenberg Peanut Chews! Our coffee is sourced from fairtrade certifiedTM cooperatives in Honduras, Mexico, Ethiopia, Peru, Colombia, and elsewhere. We are committed to sustainable business practices, recycling/composting/ repurpose as much as possible. Even our packaging is in recyclable/compostable bags made with vegetable-based cello and recycled kraft paper--perfect for a fresh product to be consumed in a few weeks--not stored for months. We support our producers' organic and bird-friendly practices as well, ensuring that the farmers work in environmentally-healthy communities and are paid more for their crop than they would receive from normal trade channels. The few selections we buy via direct trade are from totally transparent sources, assuring us the extra premiums paid are going directly to the producers--in their pockets, invested in their areas' infrastructure, and washing stations for coffee production.
