In 1937, John Costas founded the Omar Coffee Company on a single premise: "buy the world's finest coffee beans and process them with care". As the distinctive aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans spread up and down the streets of Hartford's Franklin Avenue, so did John's business. In 1955, John' son, Steve Costas, took over the business and continued to build Omar's reputation for quality coffee throughout the state of Connecticut. In 2002, after outgrowing its Hartford location, Omar designed a state of the art roasting facility in Newington, Connecticut. Today, Steve is joined by third and fourth generation family members along with a team of experienced coffee professionals who are passionate about delivering high quality coffee and unmatched customer service.
