The Arizona Angels Investor Network was founded by Chris Augur and Rick Marshall in 1999 at Scottsdale, Arizona. It is an angel investment group of accredited investors whose common interest lie on investment opportunities from companies that are in the early or later stage of development. There are about a hundred individual and institutional members of the group who have a total of about $3.5 million worth of investments in six companies namely, Advantiv, Inc., ImaRx Therapeutics, Inc., imortgage.com, myGeek.com, NetWARD Software, Inc., and TouchScape Corporation. The Arizona Angels Investor Network prefers to invest on companies located in the local region. For purposes of monitoring and providing guidance to companies they invest on, the group focuses more on Arizona-based investment opportunities. Investments usually range from $500,000 to $1.5 million depending on the company's needs. The group also co-invests with other investors, angel groups, or venture capital firms. The Network typically invests on companies that have significant growth potential in the early stage of development. The investments of the group are usually on technology although it is not a requirement to qualify for funding. Any company that is interested to apply should have a management team that is experienced and professional. The product or service it offers should also have a significant and growing market that can potentially generate high amount of profits. The company should be able to address the needs of the market, as well as have an edge over its competition. If approved for funding, a company should be open to work with an investor from the investment group as a member of its board of directors.
