Uchit Corporation

I am Ruksana Azhu Valappil. As long as I remember, I have been passionate about fairness and women's issues. I believe a key to a fairer and safer world is empowering its women. In many parts of the world, even in this day and age, the female half of the population still faces discrimination and has little access to a reasonable livelihood. So, I founded Uchit. My life as a clinical research neuroscientist was rewarding. Still, my passion and strong belief in a better, safer world through women's empowerment led me to move away from science and start Uchit. It is important to get the beginning right, so Uchit was founded as a California benefit corporation, which is a new corporate entity that considers a public benefit, whether social or environmental, as one of its main goals. As the primary aim of Uchit is to empower women, a majority of the profits goes towards projects that support that goal, both here in the USA and elsewhere in the world. A natural extension of such a goal is supporting fair trade and being eco-friendly. I hope you enjoy the products offered by Uchit (many more soon to come) and will be part of this social venture.
