In stark improvement to open-pond systems which readily ‚'leak‚' injected CO2, Photon8's PFR closed growth system ensures high CO2 utilization rates. At harvest (extraction) roughly half of the carbon consumed is passed on in lipid form to make biodiesel, with non-combustible byproducts rendering the net positive carbon cycle. Using seawater and non-arable land, Photon8's algae-diesel solution stands large over the CO2 emission and high freshwater consumption of ethanol.
