Modern Supply, a kitchen, bath and lighting distributor, serves two distinct markets: retail consumers; and wholesale plumbing, electrical, HVAC and building contractors. Three East Tennessee showrooms in Knoxville, Chattanooga and Johnson City showcase products from leading manufacturers in designer galleries. In addition, Modern Supplys Knoxville Lighting Studio displays indoor and outdoor lighting, ceiling fans and accessories from traditional to contemporary, fulfilling both retail and contractor needs. Established in 1949 by Mitchell Robinson as a plumbing supply company, Modern Supply remains a family owned business. Today, Mitchells son Pace Robinson serves as CEO and veteran employee, Dottie Ramsey is President/COO. Dad started this company from scratchhe could do everything himself, Robinson recounts. Dottie and I have a different approach where more employees are involved in decision-making and management. Communication and involvement are our philosophy. Under this management team, Modern Supply has grown to seven locations: the three showrooms and branches in Knoxville, Sevierville and Crossville, Tennessee and Bristol, Virginia. The branches serve the retail customer but focus primarily on the contractor markets.
