Bike Swap

Service Provider in Calgary, Alberta

We put on one day bike buy/sell or donate events in 4 Alberta cities; the LAST Saturday in April in Lethbridge, the FIRST Saturday in May in Calgary, the SECOND Friday in May in Red Deer, the SECOND Saturday in May in Edmonton. We had 12000 attendees in 2014, and nearly double in size and the amount we donate back to the community every year. www.albertabikeswap.ca

They are technically consignment sales (all of 12%), with half the profit returned to local cycling-oriented initiatives, the other half stays in the bank to fund more bike swaps. Our goal is for the buyer to be able to ride the bike away from the swap; all bikes are tech checked with serial number recorded. There are thousands of bikes online, we make bike buying and selling easier, and more honest - you know what you're getting, and the police like the paper trail of ownership.

If a cyclist is riding in the MS Society tours or the Ride to Conquer Cancer, and brings in a bike to sell, we will pledge $50.00 for their ride. We are a registered non-profit, funded out of pocket, just to do the right thing. We put our money where are wheels are.

If you're a member of AMA, we are part of member services, and you get a discount to sell your bike.

Lethbridge, Calgary, and Edmonton sellers bring their bikes in for a tech check betweeen 0800-1400. Buyers welcome between 1430-1600. There are long line-ups to buy these great bikes...

Yes, there are fees. We both work to fund this event, and don't have what you'd call a great business model, we'll never be able to retire.
