Metropolitan Fine Printers, Inc.

Metropolitan Fine Printers (“MET”) has been a long-time Climate Smart member, having conducted inventories for 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2013. Most recently, MET measured their fifth annual greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory for the 2014 fiscal year. Having worked on reducing their operational emissions for several years, this year MET made the decision to increase their understanding of their indirect Scope 3 emissions. This led them to expand their inventory boundary beyond their immediate operations to include the emissions generated from the paper use for their client print jobs. With this new knowledge they are more equipped to explore ways they can influence impacts “downstream”. Climate Smart assisted MET with a strategy to become carbon neutral and MET is enjoying their fifth year of carbon neutrality. This year they will be focusing on making further carbon reductions by continuing to work with local suppliers, manufacturing ink on site, educating clients on environmental alternatives, expanding their web portal marketing offerings, purchasing renewable natural gas from Fortis BC and continuing to work as a zero waste facility.
