First United Church

First United is a place of inclusivity and compassion, committed at its heart to social justice. We work to create a place in the world where the worth of each person is affirmed, a sense of belonging experienced, and spirituality nurtured and celebrated. Our work is to provide relief from the pain and struggle of homelessness, poverty and systemic injustice. We know that there are no easy answers, no simple solutions. A good life looks different for every person: it is not our role to judge or direct, we are here to help people find stability, possibility and joy. Mission: Inspired by the Christian Gospel which nurtures, empowers and liberates, First United Church is an inner-city ministry of The United Church of Canada. Called by the Spirit to be part of the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, this ministry: Affirms the worth of individuals, Empowers communities, And works for social justice.
