Skiing is the reason Ian Larsen and Steve Whelan arrived in Fernie. It was 1992, and they hadn’t met or finished trade school yet. By 1998, they were friends and certified Journeyman Carpenters, committed to living and building homes in the Elk Valley. The story of their early partnership is a story of shared values: honesty, integrity, balance and trust. They quickly learned to rely on each other’s strengths. Steve thrives on the creative aspect of the building process, finding ways to transform clients’ ideas into practical reality. Ian is highly motivated to achieve a successful project finish. Ian and Steve’s focus on building a client-centered, value-driven company continues today. They ensure every new employee shares their dedication to quality, service and results that will stand the test of time. They also make sure the LWE crew has time to enjoy the outdoors with family and friends. “Work-life balance is important to us.” Steve continues, “It is also important to us to truly collaborate with our clients.
