DSM-Niaga is a group of people who believe that we can greatly improve our environmental impact, comfort and wealth by rethinking the way everyday products are made. We’re troubled by the waste of products that are too complex in their material composition to recycle.

We use drastic simplification to redesign products from the ground up. By using a simple set of materials, products that we use every day can easily be recovered in their pure form and repurposed to create new products, again and again.

Our first product is carpeting. We chose carpets because they’re used around the world in massive volume, and are one of the biggest contributors to landfill waste today. The ambition is to make all carpets globally recyclable, in an economically interesting way for everyone involved, with improved product performance.

We have developed a technology for carpet manufactures to produce carpets from only one material, or maximum two materials that can be easily separated after use. These pure materials allow for full recycling in new carpets. Also, the absence of other materials usually present in carpets gives strong reduction of weight, elimination of new carpet smell, strong improved fire safety, and easier installation.
