Palmeras De La Costa S.A.

Palmeras de la Costa S.A. was founded in 1971 with the aim to process vegetable oils; production and marketing of crude palm oil, palm kernel oil and palm kernel cake. In 1995, it became a mixed capital company, 80% of its shares belonging to fruit suppliers and 20% to its unionized workers. Close to El Copey (Cesar), the Palmeras Del CaribeÕs Extraction Mill is located with a processing capacity of 40 t/hr. of FFB and approximately 10,000 hectares of land, distributed amongst company supported out growers and company owned land. In April 2011 our composting plant starts operating , using the full amount of the biomass and effluents, with a processing time of 2 months, Palmeras del Caribe S.A. produces approximately 2000 t/month of high quality compost. Our human resource is exclusively hired from the local communities surrounding our operations, namely El Copey and Algarrobo, to account for 383 workers hired directly and 348 through coops.
