Ontario Power Generation (OPG) produces more than half of the electricity that Ontario homes, schools, hospitals and businesses rely on each day. We are committed to ensuring our energy production is reliable, safe and environmentally sustainable for Ontarians today and for the future. At the forefront of energy technologies, OPG phased out coal generation in 2014, representing the single largest climate change initiative in North America. Our energy powerhouses - hydro and nuclear - are 99.7 per cent free of smog and greenhouse gas emissions. OPG partners with Ontario's First Nations and Métis communities on hydroelectric projects, including the Lower Mattagami project in northeast Ontario.
