In 1930, Mr. Roswell M. Towill entered private practice as R. M. Towill Engineer and Surveyor, with the intent of providing surveying and engineering services to government agencies and private clients throughout the Hawaiian Islands. As his practice grew, Mr. Towill added photogrammetry in 1947 to complement his surveying and engineering services. On July 1, 1954, Mr. Towill's private practice was incorporated as R. M. Towill Corporation, Ltd. On July 1, 1970, the name of R. M. Towill Corporation, Ltd. was formally changed to Kilohana Corporation and a new company, R. M. Towill Corporation (RMTC), was formed.This new company became the first subsidiary of the Kilohana Corporation. By then RMTC had grown to include Planning, Environmental Engineering, and Construction Management disciplines as well to become one of Hawaii's first consultancies to offer such a comprehensive and vertically integrated suite of services. RMTC went on to deliver such exciting and award-winning projects as the Honoulu International Airport Reef Runway, Sand Island Wastewater Treatment Plant, the Hawaii Ocean Science and Technology Park, West Loch Estates and Fairways, Ewa Villages Revitalization, Palau Compact Road, and many others.
