JV Smith Companies

The first of our companies, Skyview Cooling Co. was founded by John B. Smith in 1970 after he purchased Sky Valley Ice & Refrigeration in Alamosa, CO and Las Cruces, NM. The company expanded operations to Arizona in 1975 with seasonal plants in Willcox, Marana, Eloy, and Scottsdale. That same year it began its future in Yuma, recognizing the great opportunities in the vegetable industry. Vic Smith, John's son, joined the company full time in 1975 after his studies at the University of Colorado, focusing on economics and business law. Vic became president in 1991 concentrating on new technologies to enhance quality delivery of fresh products to the marketplace.
