RAM was established in 1990 by the Malaysian central bank as part of the “institutional infrastructure” to support the development of Malaysia’s rapidly developing bond (capital) market. Today, RAM has transformed into a leading financial services group and top credit rating agency in Malaysia and ASEAN where our credit opinions are widely referred to by a broad spectrum of investors, financial institutions and regulators. Along the way, RAM has facilitated in the raising of funds totaling US$270 billion in bonds and sukuk that have been instrumental in infrastructure development and corporate expansion in Malaysia and 11 other countries. We have the distinction of being a key contributor to the development of the Malaysian domestic bond market, which is now the largest in ASEAN, and also played the role of a facilitator in enabling Malaysia to be the world's leading sukuk market.
