The Excellent Tea Companys mission is to introduce exceptional African teas to the American market, starting with the best of the best, our Superb Black Tea, a pesticide-free, Fair Trade Certified, single-source black tea bag from Rwanda with a subtle flavor and just a hint of sweet aftertaste. Were a new company based in New York City, and we think people are ready to hear good news from Africa. We discovered this wonderful tea when a friend from Rwanda, in East Africa, gave us some tea bags produced by Rwandan tea growers for local consumption. Wed never tasted such great tea! And we want everyone to have the opportunity to enjoy it, too. That's why were bringing the tea from Rwanda to America and packaging it in affordable, convenient tea bags for the U.S. market. But its not just American consumers who stand to benefit. Were glad to be able to bring you tea grown in an ethically and economically responsible manner. Tea is one of Rwandas vital cash crops, and the people of Rwanda depend on finding a market for their tea. (Another important cash crop for Rwanda is coffee, and its also of very high quality.) We source our tea from the only Fair Trade Certified estate in the country, so we know that the skilled tea pickers who harvest the crop are paid above-average wages, work in safe and sanitary conditions, and are able to use the premium collected from every pound of tea to ensure their communities can provide health care and education for workers and their families. As well as the Fair Trade certification, the estate that grows our tea is an Ethical Tea Partnership participant and is currently certified under the international food safety standards ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 22000:2005 and the Rainforest Alliance program.
