The starting point for the development of our sustainable rhabarberleder (rhubarb leather) was the search for an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional and environmentally harmful chrome tanning. For several years we have been intensively researching the solution. We tested various genotypes of rhubarb for their suitability, optimized their cultivation requirements and developed an innovative tannin extract. With this and without the addition of environmentally harmful chromium compounds, we can now produce a vegetable leather that meets the highest standards of quality, sustainability and versatility.
