True North Renovations is a small team of highly skilled tradesmen based in Victoria BC. Our watchwords are quality and integrity, which together underpin our philosophy, approach, and work ethic. Before becoming a carpenter, owner Mack Kurtz was in management. Over the years, he saw many things he thought could be done better, and gradually realized that was exactly what he wanted to do: Make things better and show just how good home renovations could be when they were done right, by craftsmen who take pride in their work. Mack Kurtz started in business for himself in 2012 under the name True North Carpentry. At that time he subcontracted carpenters to larger construction companies, but within a year was taking on renovations as project manager and general contractor. This changed the scope of the business, so the original name no longer captured what the team does. Potential customers did not recognise the full value and extent of the services offered, since the name and implied service description became too narrow as the business grew.
