Carbonless Community, a collection of individuals sharing common characteristics or interests, distinct from the larger society, working cooperatively to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, thereby reducing the impact on our planet. Reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, most notably carbon dioxide (CO2), does not have to be difficult nor does it have to be costly. The mission of Carbonless Community is to assist groups of like-minded people in executing easy and thoughtful measures that not only reduce their personal carbon footprints, but also reduce the carbon footprint of the larger community to which they belong – all the while, saving money. Carbonless Community expands your organization’s activities to include specific carbon avoidance measures taken by employees, staff, faculty, students and their immediate and extended families. Positive carbon avoidance measures are quantified and verified by Registered Professional Engineers to can be used to offset the carbon footprint of your organization in calculation of their scope 3 GHG emissions. While there are many measures that can be taken, we concentrate on assisting members with making smart purchasing decisions when it is time to replace a major appliance or your car. We have found that if these purchasing decisions are made optimally, not only will you have a great impact on reducing your carbon footprint, but also you will save money over the life of your appliance or car.
