BusinessWeek named us one of America’s Most Promising Social Entrepreneurs in 2012. Retroficiency has a simple mission - to scale energy efficiency in buildings. Buildings are responsible for 40% of the total US energy consumption - and 30%-50% of that energy is wasted. They are also a significant source of carbon emissions. Energy efficiency is the most cost-effective way to change this, but the traditional process to evaluate our building stock takes engineers weeks and months to walk buildings, count light bulbs and review HVAC units, and create detailed reports with recommendations. Retroficiency aims to fundamentally change the way this is done by combining decades of energy efficiency experience with big data and software. What we do best is use analytics to rapidly develop energy models of any type of building. These complex models let you see how a specific building is consuming energy today and determine how to make it more efficient.
