Pond Biofuels, Inc.
Manufacturer/Supplier in Markham, Ontario
Pond Biofuels Inc. is in the business of producing biomass from microalgae. The Pond Biofuels system utilizes microalgae to convert the CO2 emissions of major industrial emitters into biofuel, through the process of photosynthesis, and ultimately into bio-oil and biodiesel. Situated next to a fossil fuel-burning plant, the proposed system includes the construction of an algae production and processing facility, and incorporates several of the Company’s proprietary processes. The global market opportunity for the implementation of Pond Biofuels technology among major CO2 emitters in the coal, steel, refining, cement, and other process industries, is significant. In Ontario alone, there are 10 plants producing in excess of 4,000 tonnes per day of CO2. Pond Biofuels intends to capitalize on the remarkable efficiency of microalgae and has developed a system that is capable of generating significant revenue from the sale of biodiesel alone. This revenue stream is enhanced by the sale of residual biomass and other by-products and may be further augmented by the potential sale of carbon credits. The growth of the potential market for Pond Biofuels systems to absorb CO2 emissions and manufacture biodiesel is being catalyzed by regulators throughout the world. From the Kyoto Agreement to pending carbon credit regulations in Canada, industries will have no choice but to seek carbon abatement strategies of which there are very few. By capitalizing on known science, Pond Biofuels is in a position to offer the most cost effective, and indeed profitable, method of CO2 mitigation.
