Our story starts with cherries. When Mae and Theodore Sherman decided to purchase their first cherry orchard in Central Lake, Michigan, little did they know the impact it would have on their families. Or, the future of food production. The year was 1935 and the combination of the sandy soil, temperate weather conditions and the winds blowing off of Lake Michigan were a combination for success. Eventually, William (son of Theodore) and his wife Marian Sherman relocate from Deshler, Ohio, to purchase their own cherry orchard in East Jordan. Sherman Canning Company is established in 1961 and a family tradition is born.
