Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE) is a network of passionate young people educating for sustainable development by producing, engaging, creative, environmental journalism.  Coordinated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), YRE is in more than 27 countries worldwide and growing! Aged between 11 and 21, young reporters investigate and highlight environmental issues and problems, wherever possible proposing solutions, via articles, photographs and videos. The young reporters must: Investigate a local environmental issue, Submit an article, photographs, or video and Share that work with a local audience. At the international level, participants of  the YRE program, or its campaigns and competitions, share information and interact with one another online through YRE Connect and YRE on Facebook. Participants are supported by FEE's National Operator in their country. The International YRE Director and international YRE website also provide inspiration. Each year students submit articles, photographs and videos to their National YRE Competition. Winning national entries are then entered into the International YRE competition. Winners of the international competition see their work showcased and are sometimes awarded prizes and/or an invitation to take part in an all expenses paid 'Winners' Workshop'. The program is supported by the United Nations, European Environment Agency and others.
