Black Sheep (White Light)

Black Sheep (White Light) was founded in 2011 by architect Bryce Gracey, after discovering Icelandic sheepskins during a lengthy search for sheepskins for an interior design project. Bryce was attracted to the wild and eclectic nature of these long wooled hides and Black Sheep (White Light) was born, quickly becoming a leading purveyor of this unique offering and setting the benchmark for quality in North America.

Over the next few years, Black Sheep (White Light)'s line-up expanded to broaden our Icelandic sheepskin offerings, while adding reindeer hides from Finland, and the rare and luxurious Gotland sheepskin of Sweden. As with the souring of our Icelandic sheepskins, a mandate was set to ensure all new products were processed using environmentally conscious methods, and ethically sourced as bi-products of the meat industry, thus ensuring no animal was raised for decorative purposes alone.

Recently, Black Sheep (White Light) searched around the world to team-up with artisans and manufacturers to produce a series of collections which highlight the unique materials and crafts traditions of various region such as; Ankole cow horn products of Uganda, hand-hammered brass objects of India, bedding of fine Italian linen, marble functional and decorative products native to China and South Asia, and petrified wood and burnt teak pieces from Indonesia.

Our mandate of ethical and environmentally conscious sourcing remains of key importance to Black Sheep (White Light) as we have recently committed to giving back to the planet that has provided us with this rich abundance of goods and material - five percent of our annual post-tax profits will be donated to the Environmental Defense Fund.
