Meridian Bioenergy is in the right place at the right time with the right GREEN technology. The company develops, owns, and operates an advanced generation of anaerobic digestion (AD) facilties to produce Bio Natural Gas (BNG) from decaying, biodegradable organic matter that would otherwise be disposed of in landfills. Meridian’s BNG is processed and delivered through existing natural gas pipelines to Utility customers that are mandated by their respective State’s Renewable Portfolio Standards to purchase escalating percentages of their fuel from renewable sources. Conventional “wet” Anaerobic Digestion utilizes mostly animal wastes. These agricultural facilities utilize naturally occurring microorganisms in the absence of oxygen to create biogas. Meridian’s proprietary Bioaugmentation process utilizes naturally occurring microbes and specifically cultured microbes that are introduced into the pre-digestion process to shorten the time required to generate methane and significantly increase energy yield. the only waste produced from the system is CO2 that meets Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards, organic fertilizer, and treated water that is discharged into municipal sewers. Not only does the environment benefit from Meridian’s technology, but its Waste Generator Clients realize cost savings by substantially reducing or eliminating waste disposal costs and exorbitant water discharge fees. In turn, these clients’ customers, such as restaurants, commercial kitchens, and industrial concerns, are assured that their waste is being used to produce renewable energy. Another benefit from Meridian’s process is the production of an organic soil conditioner as a byproduct - NaturaSoil®. This nitrogen rich product enriches soil comparably to synthetic fertilizers which utilize more water, have a large carbon footprint, and, over the long term, damages the soil. Meridian anticipates negotiating truckload quantity sales of NaturaSoil® initially, with future plans to bag a portion of the production for retail distribution.
