Sime Darby Plantation is the plantation and agri-business arm of the Sime Darby Group, representing one of the five core Divisions of the Group. The Division is involved in oil palm, rubber and sugarcane cultivation, plantation management, downstream activities, cattle rearing, agribusiness and food, as well as Research & Development (R&D). The merger of Sime Darby Berhad, Golden Hope Plantations Berhad and Kumpulan Guthrie Berhad (completed on 27 November 2007) established Sime Darby Plantation as one of the worldÕs largest palm oil producers. Today, Sime Darby Plantation produces approximately 2.4 million tonnes or 4% of the worldÕs annual crude palm oil (CPO) output. The Division spans across Peninsular Malaysia as well as Sabah and Sarawak; Kalimantan, Sumatera and Sulawesi in Indonesia; Liberia; Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands. Currently, the company has a total land bank of approximately 1 million hectares, of which more than 600,000 ha are planted with oil palm, 10,000 ha with rubber, 6,000 ha with sugar cane and 9,000 ha of grazing pastures.
