British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC) plays a leading role in securities regulation that inspires investor confidence and supports fair, efficient, and innovative Canadian capital markets. Their values of integrity, accountability, and service guide their commitment to appropriate, effective, and flexible regulation. BCSC measured their third annual greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory for the 2014 calendar year and achieved a 3% reduction in emissions from heat, and 6% reduction in emissions from electricity. Despite their expansion of operation, BCSC also has experienced reductions in their emission intensity compared with emissions in 2013. Moving forward, BCSC would like to minimize their emissions by implementing strategies aimed at paper, while continuing to work on emission related to heat, electricity, and staff commuting. Our mission is to foster fair and efficient capital markets and a competitive securities industry. We are an independent agency accountable to the legislature and the public through the Minister of Finance.
